What BrightEleven is

In one sentence: An online 11+ practice platform for UK children: adaptive multiple-choice practice, re-teaching of anything they get wrong, child-initiated mock papers, and a dashboard for the parent.
Who it is for: Children aged 8 to 11 (school Years 4 to 6) preparing for selective grammar and independent school entrance tests in the UK.
Exam style: Practice is written in the style of GL Assessment papers - four separate multiple-choice papers: Maths, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning. BrightEleven does not offer CEM, CSSE, FSCE or ISEB modes. If your school or area uses one of those, check the format before you register.
Independence: GL Assessment is a trademark of its owner. BrightEleven is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to GL Assessment or any exam board.
Language: British English throughout. The site and the app are en-GB only.

The question bank, measured

Live questions: 214,384, counted on the production database on 16 September 2026. This is a count of questions actually available to children, not a total of everything ever written.
Coverage: 52 topics and 462 topic-and-subtopic pairs across the four subjects, same measurement date.
By subject: Maths 56,869; Non-Verbal Reasoning 69,791; Verbal Reasoning 54,690; English 33,034.
How questions are checked: Every question is independently checked before it goes live: a verifier re-derives the answer without trusting the author or the generator, and nothing is published straight from an author or an AI.
Explanations: Every live question carries a worked explanation of the method, written for a 9 to 10-year-old - 100% of live rows in all four subjects, same measurement date.

How practice works

Placement: Each subject can begin with a placement quest: around 25 mixed questions, untimed, with no score ever shown to the child. It is offered, never forced - a child can start practising without taking one.
Adaptive difficulty: Difficulty moves with the child's answers, per topic, with no manual level-setting: a strong run promotes them, a wobble quietly eases off.
Fix-It: Every wrong answer joins the Fix-It queue: a recap in the same session, then re-tests at 2, 7 and 21 days using a different question on the same skill. Fix-It items are blended into normal practice - never more than three in a session, and never labelled as remedial.
Mock papers: A fresh paper is composed for each attempt from across the subject's topics at the child's current level, avoiding questions they have attempted recently. Full-length papers are 50 questions in 45 minutes, with a timer, question flagging, skip-and-return and an answer-sheet mode. Rough work on paper is expected and never penalised - as in the real tests.
Who starts a mock: The child does, whenever they like. BrightEleven never allocates, schedules or chases a mock, there is no "overdue" state, and there is no limit on how many a child can take.
Mock results: The child's results screen shows completion, what to work on next and encouragement. The score and the per-topic breakdown are shown to the parent. BrightEleven does not produce a standardised score or a pass prediction for anyone.

Children, privacy and safety

Account structure: A parent or guardian owns the account and creates each child profile. Children never see pricing, billing, marketing or upsells.
Data collected about a child: A first name, an avatar made of shapes and colours, a 4-digit PIN, and their own learning data - plus an exam date and region if the parent chooses to add them. No surname, no date of birth, no year group. The child privacy notice carries the complete list.
No peer comparison: There are no leaderboards and no comparison with other children anywhere in the product. A child is only ever measured against their own past work.
Trackers on child screens: No third-party analytics or advertising scripts load on any screen a child uses, and error monitoring is not loaded in the child's browser at all. One exception a parent should know: read-aloud is off by default, and if it is switched on the speech model is fetched from a third-party CDN to run locally in the browser.
Analytics generally: Page-view counting is first-party and sets no cookie at all - which is why there is no cookie banner. BrightEleven uses no third-party analytics service anywhere, on any surface.
Chat and AI: Eva, the help assistant, is available to parents and visitors on the public site only. There is no chat assistant, and nothing a child can type freely to anyone, on any child-facing screen - permanently, by design.
Child-to-child contact: None. There is no messaging, no user-generated content, and no visibility between families.

Pricing, refunds and what we do not do

Plans: £7.99/month or £49.99/year. Up to 3 child profiles are included on every plan - that is the family plan; there is no separate family tier.
Current state: Paid plans open on 1 October 2026, when the free beta ends - until then every family has full access without paying anything. Once plans open: cancel any time, no minimum term, and a 14-day full refund if it's not for you. The 14-day full refund is your statutory UK cooling-off right - we just say it out loud. The annual plan also carries a 30-day money-back guarantee, on top of the 14 days.
Free trial: There is no free trial, and there will not be one. You pay upfront, and the risk-free period is the statutory 14-day cooling-off refund - which is why you may see BrightEleven described as "try it for 14 days". No free-access period BrightEleven has ever run was a trial, and none converts into one; whatever applies today is the "current state" line above.
Cancelling: Cancel any time from the billing page, with no minimum term. It stops future billing and access continues to the end of the period already paid for.
Reviews and testimonials: BrightEleven publishes none, because it has no verified ones yet. There are no review counts, star ratings, pass rates or success percentages anywhere on this site, and none in its structured data either.
